Student Computer Accounts
All students enrolled at the University of Canterbury receive a student computer account. Once you have completed enrolment and received your Canterbury Card a computer account will be generated for you.
Your computer account will be active for the period of your enrolment given that you follow the Computer Use Policy and Procedures (pdf).
If you return for further studies your username will remain the same. Your account is disabled on March 1st of the year following your last enrolment.
When your account is generated, an email address is activated for you in the format username@uclive.ac.nz, e.g. abc123@uclive.ac.nz.
Username
Your student username can be found on your Canterbury Card:

Password
All first year students should have created their password directly after receiving a card. If you haven’t done this, or if you’ve forgotten it, you can visit the ICT Service Desk in the Central Library, and they can re-set it with you.As an undergraduate student, you can also change your password online. We recommend you do this as soon as possible as you are liable for any charges accumulated against your computer account.
Account Services
A student computer account gives you access to a range of account services including ICT Computer Workrooms, Personal Home Folder, student email account, University ISP and certain chargeable services.
Charges
There are charges to your account for using services like printing, internet or wireless, so you will need to add money to your Canterbury Card.
It is important to make sure that your account retains a positive balance - if you become overdrawn you will be denied access to chargeable services.
