Personal wireless hotspots
(1 March 2013)
We have a strong campus wireless network, but as with all such networks its performance can be affected by other transmission sources. To ensure that the network signal remains as strong as possible for you and everyone else, when on campus please deactivate any personal wireless hotspots or ad hoc wireless networks you have on your mobile devices or laptops.
UC Phone discontinued
(11 December 2012)
The UC Phone service, which allowed staff and students to bill phone calls from UC telephones to their Canterbury Card, has been discontinued due to lack of use and its now-outdated technology. A number of options are available for users without personal mobile phones...
Changes to Alumni Webmail System 25th November
(23 November 2012)

New mobile plans for University staff
(19 November 2012)
The University recently entered into a new contract with its existing mobile voice and data services provider, Gen-i. This new contract allows us to take advantage of cheaper call rates and to transfer our current data plans to a bulk group data plan, ensuring that we are charged only for what data we consume. The new contract means individual mobile users no longer are on an individual monthly data plan, and may result in some changes to bills. Student internet charges
(5 September 2012)
Remember, although you get 2GB of internet usage free per month (4GB for postgrads), any usage over that limit whether by wireless connection or directly via the UC network will incur a charge of $2 per GB. There have been some periods over the past 18 months where charging was suspended, but charges are now back on per ICT policy. Keep an eye on your usage at My IT Account.
